If the other party share a key to the property, someone might be at risk. It is recommended than to call the authorities and change the keys for security reasons. A business situation can involve a dispute over money. A business will hold valuables that will have to be secured and protected. One of the parties involved might obtain access to the property, and cause financial damages. Changing the key to secure the business from an unwanted entry could be a good idea then.
When we rekey a lock, few things needs to be consider. Does the lock have to be restricted or just normal? Restricted lock is a lock that only the person registered for it can have a key cut for that lock. A formal lock can have keys cut in any key cut place. With a restricted lock, you can control the number of keys produced and make sure no one else will make an unwanted copy to have. We should also look at the cylinder and if it needs to be replaced. Sometimes when you want to change a key to a lock, you discover that the cylinder is old and needs to be replaced. Changing the cylinder can be an option when you already have a locksmith treating the lock as it is not extra work to be done.
